DTF (Direct to Film) printing is a modern garment printing process where your design is printed directly onto a special film using high-quality inks and adhesive powder. The film is then heat-pressed onto your garment, transferring the design with vivid color and durability. Unlike screen printing or vinyl, DTF works beautifully on cotton, polyester, blends, and more
A DTF gang sheet allows you to place multiple designs on one large film sheet. This helps you save time and money by printing several logos, graphics, or artwork pieces on one print instead of ordering each design separately. Once printed, you can simply cut and press each design individually. DTF Delaware offers gang sheets in various sizes, perfect for business owners and bulk printers.
DTF transfers are used to apply custom designs to apparel and fabric items — including t-shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts, tote bags, and more. They’re ideal for small business branding, custom gifts, or full production runs. DTF transfers give you full-color, long-lasting prints that work great for both light and dark fabrics.
A UV DTF gang sheet is designed for hard surfaces such as cups, tumblers, glass, and metal. Instead of being heat-pressed, UV DTF transfers are peel-and-stick, using ultraviolet (UV) ink for a glossy, durable finish. Standard DTF transfers are meant for fabric and require a heat press. Both provide professional-quality prints but are made for different applications.
We recommend submitting your designs in PNG format with a transparent background at 300 DPI for the best print quality. High-resolution files ensure sharp edges, smooth gradients, and accurate color reproduction during printing.
Use RGB color mode when preparing your artwork. Our printers are optimized for RGB files, which help retain vibrancy and better represent how colors appear on screen and in print.
You can create your gang sheet by arranging multiple designs on a single canvas:
-
In Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator – set your canvas to the exact gang sheet size (e.g., 22x24 inches) at 300 DPI, and place your PNG designs as needed.
-
In Canva – create a custom-sized document matching your gang sheet dimensions, then drag and drop your transparent PNGs.
Leave at least 0.25” space between designs and ensure no elements overlap. Save your file as PNG or PDF before uploading.
DTF Delaware offers multiple sizes from 22x10 inches up to 22x170 inches. Whether you need small sheets for sample runs or large rolls for bulk production, you can customize your gang sheet dimensions directly on our website.
We can print low-resolution files, but we don’t recommend it. Low DPI images may appear blurry or pixelated. We suggest redesigning or recreating the artwork at 300 DPI for the best results.
Here are some general guidelines for sizing:
-
Adult full front: 11–12 inches wide
-
Youth full front: 8–9 inches wide
-
Pocket or left chest: 3.5–4 inches wide
Always measure your garment before printing to ensure proper placement and proportions
For best results, follow these general settings:
-
Temperature: 280–300°F (155–160°C)
-
Pressure: Medium to firm (approx. 6KG)
-
Time: 10–15 seconds
-
Press the transfer film onto your garment, let it cool completely (cold peel - 10 seconds), and peel the film off smoothly. Finish with a quick 5-second repress using parchment paper for a soft, matte finish.
Yes. After you receive your printed gang sheet, trim around each design before pressing to make placement easier and avoid overlapping edges.
DTF Delaware transfers are cold peel (10 seconds). Let the print cool completely before peeling the film. Peeling too early can damage the design or cause lifting at the edges.
To keep your prints looking new:
-
Wash inside out in cold or warm water.
-
Use mild detergent — avoid bleach or fabric softeners.
-
Tumble dry on low heat or hang dry.
-
Do not iron directly over the design.
Following these steps will help extend the life and color vibrancy of your DTF prints.
DTF transfers typically last 50+ washes with proper care. The prints remain vibrant and flexible, even after repeated washing, making them ideal for retail-quality apparel.
No — when pressed and cared for correctly, DTF prints do not crack, fade, or peel. The ink bonds deeply with the fabric fibers, providing long-lasting durability and elasticity.
DTF offers amazing quality, but like any method, it has limits:
-
It’s not ideal for extremely heat-sensitive fabrics.
-
Poorly prepared artwork or incorrect pressing temperature can affect results.
-
DTF films require proper storage (away from humidity and direct sunlight).
With correct preparation and application, DTF remains one of the most versatile print methods available.
Yes — DTF transfers typically outlast vinyl, and they’re comparable in durability to screen printing. They also offer much greater color flexibility and fine detail than vinyl.
Absolutely. DTF printing excels at capturing fine lines, small text, and detailed graphics with full color and precision. For best results, use high-resolution vector or PNG artwork.
DTF transfers can be pressed onto:
-
100% cotton
-
Cotton/poly blends
-
100% polyester
-
Canvas and denim
-
Fleece, spandex, and more
They’re suitable for light and dark fabrics alike.
This versatility is why DTF transfers are commonly used for custom DTF sheets on t-shirts, jerseys, caps, and bags.
DTF does not bond well to coated fabrics, silicone-treated materials, or some waterproof textiles. Always test on a small area first if you’re unsure about compatibility.
DTF works great on both! Cotton gives a soft matte finish, while polyester results in slightly more vibrant colors. Both provide long-lasting prints when properly pressed.
Yes! DTF printing supports full-color gradients, photo-quality images, and multi-color artwork — all on one transfer with no color limitations or layering required.
